WHAT IS PLA?

The ever increasing levels of plastic waste in the world is placing our planet into crisis. We have no choice but to pull together!  Doing so could save the planet from continuous extermination of marine life and pollution of our water. We are yet to truly see the impact plastic pollution will have on the human race.  Hopefully we can do something about it before its too late.

As a water cooler company we are fully aware of the amount of plastic cups we distribute to our customers. The realisation that this will be contributing to the current crisis has made us want to do something about it.

WHY CHOOSE PLA OVER REGULAR PLASTIC?

Benefits of PLA as a bioplastic is its versatility and that it naturally degrades when exposed to the environment. For example, a PLA bottle left in the ocean would typically degrade in six to 24 months.  Conventional plastics in the same environment can take several hundred to a thousand years to degrade!

PLA does not produce toxic fumes if incinerated should the product find its way to an incineration plant, unlike traditional plastics. PLA products are made from corn starch which is renewable source. Traditional plastics are made from oil or natural gas which is a finite resource which will eventually run out.

ARE PLA CUPS COMPOSTABLE AND BIODEGRADABLE ?

Yes, PLA cups are compostable in industrial composting facilities, industrial composting 60º C + 95% humidity, in 45-60 days.  These cups come in plastic (cold cups and water cups) as well as hot and cold paper cups with PLA lining forms.

Official Providers

After meeting with several manufacturers of biodegradable and compostable cups, we are now over the moon to be able to supply cups that will have little impact on our environment. They look just like plastic ones, paper cones and paper cups but they can all be recycled, are bio-degradable and compostable!

If you use plastic cups, paper cups or paper cones for your water coolers then why not make the switch today? To see our selection of PLA products simply head over to our online shop where you will be able to place an order.

What Does PLA Stand For?
